Glacier Express to Zermatt
Today we went on an eight hour train trip from Saint Moritz to Zermatt on the Glacier Express.
After some initial fog we passed through some more fantastic scenery.
Finally we arrived in Zermatt exactly on time. Apparently the hotel offered us free transport to the hotel but before we rang them I looked up on Google maps to see how far away it was and it said it was one minute on foot! So, we walked!
Zermatt is a car free town, there are pedestrians everywhere, and bikes, but the only vehicles are small electric powered taxis
The town had a very lively buzzy feel to it, unlike Saint Moritz. There were people everywhere, cafes open, and really felt lively.
The hotel room is pretty cosy, and there is a lovely view from the window.
More details tomorrow, we are planning to take the cog railway up the side of a nearby mountain to get a better view of the Matterhorn.
